Ryan Rivera is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning filmmaker from Brooklyn, NY, specializing in both narrative and documentary films. Throughout the years, he has had the privilege of creating a variety of celebrated projects that he is incredibly proud of. He is passionate about creating projects that leave a lasting impact on viewers and sparks conversations.
In May, Ryan graduated with a degree in Film Studies and Music, Sound, and Technology. He recently created Capturada, the story of Alma, a 71-year-old woman who rediscovers her identity through a secret online relationship—capturing both the isolation of aging and the liberation that comes with rekindled passion
His narrative film, Those Who Don’t (2024), has been screened both in his hometown of New York and internationally in Spain. In Fall 2024, this film won Best Student Film at IndieHouse in Barcelona, Spain . It also won best Hispanic/Latino student film at IndieFest in California. His most recent documentary, Pieces of Time (2024), has been entering the film festival airwaves as well. In January 2025, this project won best student documentary at the International Gold Awards in New York City.
